Downtown Jakarta

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. You know, it’s Christmas time…shopping, spending time with family….blah blah blah…

I bought myself a nice present yesterday. A new lens. The Sony 85mm f/1.4 Grand Master. Woo Hoo. I am really excited to start using this lens. I had to hold back, though. Tika (my wife) told me I can’t use it until Christmas day. So, it is wrapped up and under the tree.

It was an unusually nice day today in Jakarta. Not too hot, breezy, blue skies and big fluffy white clouds. So, I jumped on my motorbike, and made the trek downtown with a good friend to take some shots. I wanted to get up on the roof of the Hyatt, but they said we needed a permit and had to apply at least a week in advance. Well, that was not happening…and who knows what the weather would be like in a week…most likely WHITE skies as usual. So, we went across the street to the Pullman, and they were very kind. A manager guided us to the top sky bar that is only used for special occasions, and let us take photos from the balcony. So, big score for Pullman, and the Hyatt gets a bit thumbs down.
