  • Last Flight Out Photography!

I get this question a lot..."Scotty, why Last Flight Out Photography?".

Well, let's say you are on a trip to some exotic location like....uh....Iceland, for example. There are three flights heading home on the last day of your in the morning, one in the afternoon, and the last flight leaving just after dinner. Which one do you choose? If it were me, I would choose the Last Flight Out because I want to spend every last minute I can getting just ONE more shot....know what I mean?

This blog/website highlights my favorite photographs from trips I make around the world. There's nothing I love more than sharing my passion for photography.

I am a High School Photography Teacher at the Jakarta Intercultural School in Jakarta, Indonesia. If you are ever in this part of the world, give me a call, and we can go out shooting together. Thanks for visiting my site, and please come back again and again...

These two guys have staked out their territory here for years. Seriously. I have been doing this Photowalk to this particular Kampung for years, and these two guys are ALWAYS there. The funny thing is that they both sell the same food from their “Kaki Lima”, but one of them has a better umbrella. I wonder if they compete every day to see who sells the most fried tempe??

A Bit of Life Philosophy

I can’t think how many times in my life I have come to an intersection, and had to choose a path. I don’t THINK I have taken many wrong turns along the way so far (there have been a couple), but I do sometimes wonder where I would have ended up if I had chosen a different road than the one(s) I chose. The journey continues no matter your age, and there are still many roads to explore ahead. It doesn’t stop until you…uh…stop.

I have seen thousands of students graduate from High School over the years, and often think about the different paths they choose in this journey we call life. I would advise the more interesting road….the “rough road” where there are no clues of where it might go…taking the “smooth” road is just boring and too predictable. What fun is that? Isn’t it more fun to take the challenging road navigating around the pot holes, crossing “sketchy” bridges, and then getting totally lost? I think so.

For me….I am taking the road on the right….even if it says “do not enter”….
