  • Last Flight Out Photography!

I get this question a lot..."Scotty, why Last Flight Out Photography?".

Well, let's say you are on a trip to some exotic location like....uh....Iceland, for example. There are three flights heading home on the last day of your in the morning, one in the afternoon, and the last flight leaving just after dinner. Which one do you choose? If it were me, I would choose the Last Flight Out because I want to spend every last minute I can getting just ONE more shot....know what I mean?

This blog/website highlights my favorite photographs from trips I make around the world. There's nothing I love more than sharing my passion for photography.

I am a High School Photography Teacher at the Jakarta Intercultural School in Jakarta, Indonesia. If you are ever in this part of the world, give me a call, and we can go out shooting together. Thanks for visiting my site, and please come back again and again...

I have said this a few times before, but I have almost as much fun processing my photos in Photoshop than I do actually taking photos! I especially like the way colours “pop” when different layers of exposure are combined…and I do like the “painterly” feel…especially when printed on canvas. In any case, here is a cool “before/after” rendition of a photo I took today in a Kampung close to where I work…

The BEFORE shot (straight out of the camera)

And here is the AFTER shot….I used Lightroom, Aurora, and Photoshop to create this final image…

I usually don’t enter contests, but decided to put some photos in for consideration. It was free, and I could enter as many photos as I wanted….here are the ones I entered…

How do you choose the best photo from a lot of 200 keepers? I took over a thousand photos, and narrowed those down to around 200. The diving in Raja Ampat, was of course, incredible as usual. I walked away with a bunch of cool photos, and will post a few of my favorites as the week progresses…I will start with this shot of a Black Tip Reef Shark cruising the reef above me…

I was recently going through my photos from my trip to Guatemala four years ago. Wow, time sure flies, right?? I would have to say the market, Chichicastenango in Guatemala is one of the best I have ever seen. You can explore, or just sit in a dark corner somewhere and watch people come and go for hours on end. It is a fascinating place…
