What gear do i use?

My Cameras

Sony A7R (for underwater)

Sony A7Rii (back up camera)

Sony A7Riii (Main camera)

Leica M9 (For Street Photography)

Nikon D800 (want to sell)

Wish List:

Sony A9 (for Sports)

Five cameras is way too many, but it is what I have at the moment. I will eventually sell the A7R and the A7Rii once I get a new underwater housing for the A7Riii. My Nikon has a broken screen on the top of the camera, so I can't sell it, so it just sits collecting dust. My Leica is one of those cameras I will never part with even though I don't use it much...but I LOVE that camera and shooting with a rangefinder is just too much fun and different...and the Leica glass is SUBLIME!

Eventually, I will get down to three cameras...the A7Riii, the A9, and the Leica M9.

My drones

I have spent way too much money on drones. Drones are like computers...you buy the latest and best thing, and then a month later, a newer and better model comes out that is cheaper than the previous model. Very frustrating. I am a big DJI fan, and have the Inspire 1 Pro with the Zenmuse X5 camera and also have the DJI Mavic Air. I don't use the Inspire much because it is so big and clunky to travel with. The Mavic Air is the dream drone for traveling. I can fit the entire drone in my camera bag plus two extra batteries and battery charger. It is also very easy to fly. The only thing bad about the Air is the still image quality. DJI just came out with the new Mavic Pro 2 with a Hasselblad camera. Looks like I will be picking up a new drone once again.

My Lenses

Sony 85mm f/1.4

Sony 12-24mm f/4

Sony 16-35mm f/4

Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro

Sony 35mm f/1.4

Leica 18mm f/3.8

Leica 35mm f/2

Leica 135mm f/4

Voitlander 50mm f/1.1

Sony 70-200mm f/2.8

Wish List:

Sony 400mm f/2.8 (for sports)

Lenses are a real investment, and it is where I spend the most money. I believe it is the lens that has the biggest effect on picture quality, and the beauty of buying nice glass is that it can still be used on the newer camera models that come out in the future as long as you stick to one brand of camera.

Sony A7R

Nauticam Housing

Inon Z-240 Strobes (2)

Nikonons 15mm

Macro Port for Sony 90mm

Nauticam CMC-1 wet dipoter

Wish List:

Nauticam housing for A7Riii

Inon Z-330 Strobes

Underwater housings are a lot like drones. One never knows when to invest in a housing...When a new camera comes out, a new housing comes out as well. Housings can cost more than the cameras they house, so I am often stuck with an expensive housing for an out-of-date camera.

Other Stuff

I am really happy with my printer. I have the EPSON Sure Color P20070. It is a 64-inch printer, and is quiet, quick, and makes gorgeous prints! I may be the only photographer in Jakarta that owns one of these beauties. It was expensive, but it will set me apart from other printers in town!

I am an APPLE guy. I have NEVER owned a PC, and NEVER will. Apple has had my loyalty since the MAC Classic came on the scene decades ago. I recently invested in the iMAC Pro, and it is awesome! I love this machine. It is fast, has plenty of RAM, and I don't have to worry about working with huge Photoshop files or editing video with Final Cut Pro.

I do 95% of my post processing with Adobe Lightroom. The rest comes from Photoshop. I am also a big fan of Aurora HDR 2018 and Luminar 2018. For panoramas, I use Autopano Giga. The old Nik Filters who were bought by Google, and then sold to DxO are also some of my all-time favorite plug-ins...especially Silver Efex Pro for Black n Whites.
